The Tempe Town Lake Boat Parade and the Nautical Parade of Lights at Canyon Lake are both beautiful and exciting ways to help usher in the 2017 holiday season. Boats are decorated with thousands of lights that glow in the dark night during these parades.
2017 Fantasy of Lights Boat Parade
Write it on your calendar and be ready for this year’s Fantasy of Lights Boat Parade, held on December 9 at the Tempe Town Lake, 80 W. Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe. This event is one of the most unique in the Valley, featuring nearly 50 boats decorated with lights – boats of all shapes and sizes will be on the water. The sidewalks and pathways along Tempe Beach Park will also be illuminated with thousands of lights, courtesy of the Tempe South Rotary.
This is the 18th year for the annual lighted boat parade and it has become a family tradition with food, live music, and visits with Santa. What could make this night any more special? Wait – there’s more! A fireworks display is also on the schedule. Don’t miss this exciting event – it’s a terrific event for family and friends to get into the spirit of the holiday season.
Nautical Parade of Lights at Canyon Lake
The Parade of Lights, hosted by the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association and Yacht Club, will also be held on December 9. These elaborately decorated and lighted boats tour the lake for everyones enjoyment. The boat parade starts at dusk, with the lighted parade traversing from the one side of East Bay to the other, heading for the Main Causeway.
Typically, from there they cruise along the eastern shoreline, up to the Lodge, and around the eastern side of the main lake. They will then travel north and down to the western side of the lake. They will go into Catfish Cove, go past the campground, and finish their journey at Holiday Harbor dock. If you want to add dinner into your evening, look to the The Lighthouse Restaurant, but make your reservations early, its a popular spot and a great place to watch the boat parade.
Both these events are spectacular – choose one, or be adventurous and try to go to both! They are about an hour’s drive apart. Each one is well worth the time to take it all in.
If you are in the market for a new home, go early and check out the neighborhoods around these boat parades. Contact a Launch Real Estate agent to learn more about Tempe or Canyon Lake.
